2008 Teaming with Wildlife Fly-In Day!
When: Feb 26-27, 2008 (beginning at 12:00 noon Feb. 26th)

We need you in Washington, DC to to support better funding for the State Wildlife Grants Program. State Wildlife Grants, the program that provides funding for State Wildlife Action Plans, is our country's core program for preventing wildlife from becoming endangered in every state. In addition, this is a great opportunity to seek dedicated funding for wildlife conservation programs through climate change and other legislation. It all kicks off with an issue briefing and Hill strategy session at noon on Tuesday, February 26. Hill visits will occur the following day, Wednesday, February 27. Other events that will occur over the two days include a happy hour, wildlife reception and a breakfast briefing in the House of Representatives.

Field trip for Congressional staff

Maryland DNR and the International Association of Fish & Wildlife Agencies will be hosting a field trip for Congressional staff this Thursday, May 31. The field trip is designed to showcase MD's wildlife diversity action plan, and projects that support wildlife conservation in MD. After a morning event in Snow Hill, the group will drive north to Ocean City for a pontoon boat trip behind Assateague Island and near Skimmer Island (just north of the Route 50 bridge). The boat holds 80, and we have just over 30 registered to go. Joining us that afternoon will be Congressional staff from D.C., DNR officials, TNC officials, and MD Delegates Norman Conway and Jim Mathias. PLEASE JOIN US for the pontoon trip - this is a no-cost trip for you! We will be leaving the Talbot Street dock at 3:00 pm sharp, and returning at 5:00 pm. National Fishing and Boating Week

DC Fisheries and Wildlife Division will be participating in the National Fishing and Boating Week by sponsoring Kids Fishing Day at Constitution Gardens, Washington, DC. During this event 300 kids from the Washington Metro area will be given instruction in the art of fishing and will be given the opportunity to catch bluegill and bass out of Constitution Gardens on the Mall. National Trails Day

For the 15th year in a row, on the first Saturday in June the American Hiking Society sponsors National Trails Day, an event to celebrate trails and the outdoors. A number of parks in Maryland and DC are participating in this outdoor adventure day. Join in activities in Maryland or Washington, DC to learn about wildlife and conduct light trail work.
