Wildlife in the United State is facing unprecedented threats from the combined stresses of global warming and habitat destruction and degradation. National Wildlife Federation was recently awarded a $1.2 million grant from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation to confront these threats using State Wildlife Action Plans. NWF, its state affiliates, and other partners will help ensure that wildlife action plans and other natural resource plans are updated to address the issue of climate change. Through the following three strategies, this grant is enabling NWF to carry out focused work in three states – New York, Virginia, and Washington – as well as at the national level.
Strategy One: Building Model Climate Change Safeguards
Strategy Two: Promoting Action Plans and Climate Change Safeguards
Strategy Three: Organize and Activate Coalitions in Support of Action Plans and Climate Change
For more information on the strategies, please see the Project Fact Sheet
